I am no interior designer… but I know what I like. I’m sure as you read this, you’re thinking the same thing. The problem with what I like has to do with funds. I don’t know about you, but I’m not making Matisse and Renoir level moneys. That’s when my former art major experience (and Ikea) comes into play!
Master Bedroom
My bedroom is a MAJOR work in progress as far as art is concerned. You may remember my previous post about the bedroom I want (see No Place Like Home Decor Stores) from Anthropologie. Yea, we’re soo not there yet. I’m a quilt, a rug and a few more pieces of art away from that look
In the meantime, I wanted to make sure I used the amazing lighting from my bay windows and showcased the giant space that is my room. And don’t judge me because I hang my thousands of necklaces on my bedframe! Lol!
Luckily, I didn’t toss my old art books from my time majoring in graphic design. I’m not ashamed to upcycle the hell out of an old college book or three. In lieu of actually being able to afford Degas, Monet and Renoir to name a few, my books are coming out of the dusty bookshelf, pictures clipped and placed on my walls. Damn right.
Living/Dining Room
Framing these beautiful images wasn’t the hard part… but figuring how to place them on the wall in a unique way was. In my living/dining room, I decided that I wanted to create a collage of images, in a way. But I cannot for the life of me, get this giant, heavy frame up on my wall by myself! So much for being the strong, independent woman… I need a handy man!
As you can see, I have a few spots to fill in! Thank God I live in a pretty fancy area and people dump some nice stuff off at the Salvation Army and Goodwill. All but 4 of the frames on my walls have come from thrift store.. and a few of the pics too! I’ll have some more flicks in a few days… but enjoy for now! I have so much space and so much decor ambition that this is bound to be fun!
